Grey + black tinted porcelain, Glazes, Modern kintsugi repair using adhesive & gold foil

wall bracket for simple installation and 360 degree positioning.

The Kintsugi technique involves repairing a crack or chip with a mixture of clay and urushi resin, and a layer of gold powder over the seam. This traditional technique is only possible to do on glazed ceramic. As most of my pieces are unglazed, I used my own versions of Kintsugi as needed with modern adhesives and gold foil instead of powder.

Kintsugi literally means “Gold Glue” in Japanese. It originated in the 15th century giving broken ceramics a second life, almost more precious than before. I like the connection here, as we are all a bit wiser after being hurt and healed.
